Reinhold Messner Haus

A place of quiet grandeur

Reinhold Messner Haus

Monte Elmo

Where once cable car gondolas arrived, a new chapter begins: the Reinhold Messner Haus is an impressive example of how the future can grow from what already exists. The former mountain station on Monte Elmo was not demolished, but upcycled - transformed into a visionary centre for sustainability, environmental awareness, art and culture.

This is where people, ideas and horizons meet. The Reinhold Messner Haus is more than just an exhibition. It is an invitation - to pause, to think, to engage in dialogue. Between old wooden beams and contemporary architecture, a lively place is created where past and future join hands. A house that not only tells the story of Messner's life, but also prompts our own reflections on responsibility and change.

"The true spirit of adventure begins where safety ends."

The project is supported and further developed by Reinhold's wife Diane, who keeps Messner's spiritual legacy alive with passion and vision and sets new impulses for the future - together with the company 3 Zinnen plc as a strong regional partner.

Reinhold Messner LIVE

Monte Elmo becomes a place for special encounters. In summer 2026, Reinhold Messner takes you on a journey – through talks, film screenings and conversations, he shares adventures at the limits of the possible.

CINEMA at the Reinhold Messner Haus

At the in-house cinema of the Reinhold Messner Haus, you can experience impressive films about mountains, life at the limit, and extraordinary human stories.
