Die Große Zinne
Reinhold Messner tells the story of alpine climbing at the Three Peaks, especially the Great Peak. The film traces the evolution from pioneering mountaineering to modern sport climbing and recreates historical figures and landmark achievements.
Everest – The Last Step
The film tells the story of the first ascent of Mount Everest without supplemental oxygen on May 8, 1978, by Reinhold Messner and Peter Habeler. Messner describes the idea, the preparation, and the dramatic climb to the summit, while highlighting the significance of this achievement in the history of alpinism.
K2 – Der große Streit
The documentary explores the controversial first ascent of K2 in 1954 by an Italian expedition and the dispute surrounding Walter Bonatti. Reinhold Messner shows how solidarity, accusations, and later rehabilitation turned it into one of the most famous controversies in mountaineering history, using archive footage and reenactments.
Cerro Torre
The film centers on the myth of Cerro Torre in Patagonia and the disputed claim by Cesare Maestri that he reached the summit with Toni Egger in 1959. REinhold Messner follows the trail of the expedition, examines facts and contradictions, and tries to determine what really happened.
