Reinhold Messner Haus

The mountains must remain wild

A place of quiet grandeur - the Reinhold Messner Haus on Monte Elmo

Where once cable car gondolas arrived, a new chapter begins: the Reinhold Messner Haus is an impressive example of how the future can grow from what already exists. The former mountain station on Monte Elmo was not demolished, but upcycled - transformed into a visionary centre for sustainability, environmental awareness, art and culture.

This is where people, ideas and horizons meet. The Reinhold Messner Haus is more than just an exhibition. It is an invitation - to pause, to think, to engage in dialogue. Between old wooden beams and contemporary architecture, a lively place is created where past and future join hands. A house that not only tells the story of Messner's life, but also prompts our own reflections on responsibility and change. A place of quiet grandeur - the Reinhold Messner Haus on Monte Elmo.

"The true spirit of adventure begins where safety ends."

The project is supported and further developed by Reinhold's wife Diane, who keeps Messner's spiritual legacy alive with passion and vision and sets new impulses for the future - together with the company 3 Zinnen plc as a strong regional partner.

Mindfulness Hike with Quotes by Reinhold Messner.

Step by step, in deep tranquility, Reinhold Messner himself leads guests through the mountain landscape – mindfully, silently, attentively. Alongside him, participants hike from the Reinhold Messner Haus up to the Helmhaus, all in the spirit of mindfulness. At the top, a serene highlight awaits: an exclusive talk by the legendary mountaineer, with the opportunity to ask personal questions.

Afterwards, the group returns to the valley together – peacefully and at ease.

Listen to the mountain whisperer as he shares his boundary-breaking journeys, the art of walking, the silence of the mountains – and why every step matters.

Mountain Legends - 25. & 26.08.2025

An Evening of Storytelling with Reinhold Messner

An evening that goes under your skin: around the fire, Reinhold Messner shares the great mountain legends – of the pioneers of alpinism, of courage, loss, and the transformation of a passion.

He speaks about the early heroes of the mountains, about sacrifice and ideals, the commercialization of Everest – and his own dramatic story on Nanga Parbat.

This storytelling evening is accompanied by the deep, moving cello sounds of young South Tyrolean musician Matteo Bodini, who lends the stories a powerful acoustic space.

An evening between fire and remembrance, sound and storytelling – a worthy tribute of the mountains.

Registrations open from July 15.
