The Helm/ Monte Elmo not only inspires with its view, because the natural border between Italy and Austria looks back on a long history. On the tracks of smugglers and border crossers, various hikes with a low level of difficulty can be planned. Always with you: the view of the Sesto sundial, the largest stone sundial in the world.
Directions
From Moos, opposite the bakery, take the road up to „Palmstatt“. Pass the farms and take the hiking trail to the Helmhanghütte hut. Pass the Helmhanghütte hut and walk a short distance along the path to „die Egge“. After the last hut, turn left into the sparse larch forest and follow the summer trail 3 A up along the ridge. From the tree line, follow the pronounced ridge to the summit. The way back is via the outward route or alternatively to the Helmjet mountain station, which takes you back to the valley.
TIP: The cable car Helmjet helps you to conquer some vertical metres.
