Innichen is easily accessible by various means of transport. By car, take the A22 motorway to Brixen and then follow the SS49 into the Puster Valley. From Austria, the B100 towards Sillian and then the SS49 into the Puster Valley is recommended. The Innichen train station is well connected to the South Tyrolean rail network and offers connections to Italy, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

If you are travelling by plane, you can use Bozen Airport, approximately 2 hours away, or alternatively Innsbruck, Venice, Verona or Munich airports.

A variety of activities await you at Haunold for the whole family. Numerous panoramic and family hiking trails offer impressive views of the Dolomites, while the adventure circular trail "Riese Haunold" and the Dwarf Village are especially popular with children. For thrill-seekers, the Funbob summer toboggan run and a high ropes course provide extra fun. To wind down, cosy mountain huts invite you to relax and enjoy a refreshment.

Even in bad weather, Innichen has plenty to offer. Culture and museum fans can visit the Dolomythos, the MIK – Museum im Kapitel, as well as the Reinhold Messner House on the Helm mountain. Those seeking relaxation will find plenty of options at the Acquafun leisure pool with its sauna area to make a rainy day enjoyable.

Innichen offers barrier-free options for a relaxed stay. Some hiking and cycling paths in the region are easily accessible, partly paved, and ideal for wheelchairs or pushchairs. Accommodation is also adapted for accessibility: numerous hotels and guesthouses offer specially adapted rooms and facilities.

Leisure activities are also well accessible: several restaurants and cafés are barrier-free, and the Acquafun leisure pool has disabled-friendly facilities so the whole family can have fun.

Admission is free for persons with a disability of 91% or more – and also free for one accompanying person.

The Innichen – Lienz cycling route is a popular and family-friendly tour along the Drau cycle path. Over 44 km (approximately 3 hours), the route is rated as easy and runs mostly off main roads. Numerous rest stops make it ideal for families and leisure cyclists.

The route runs from Innichen along the Drau river to Lienz in Austria and is suitable for all bike types, including e-bikes. The recommended period is generally May to October.

Bicycles can be rented from one of the bike hire shops in Innichen/San Candido and returned at the drop-off point in Lienz. The train is a convenient option for the return journey.

Numerous churches, historic buildings and traditional events invite you to discover South Tyrolean culture. A free audio guide helps you learn about the history and significance of the sights (Hearonymus link). In addition, concerts by the local brass bands take place regularly, rounding off the cultural experience.
