Directions

The hike begins in the Tyrolean village of Kartitsch and initially follows trail No. 466 in the direction of the Hotel Waldruhe, passing by the sports field. From there, the route leads through the Winklertal Valley, along the Obstanser Waterfall, and up to the Obstanser Lake, where a mountain hut is located. Afterwards, the trail continues uphill to a saddle, where the first boundary stone, so far undiscovered, is believed to be located. From this point, the route follows signposts numbered 1753, along with historic boundary stones and cross inscribed stones. The trail runs along the historic border between Tyrol and the Republic of Venice, heading toward the Knieberg. A path between the Nemes Alm and the Malga Coltrondo, accompanied by impressive views and another waterfall, leads toward the Kreuzbergpass. Once you reach the Kreuzbergpass, there is an information point offering information about the history of the region. The hike continues along trail No. 15, followed by trail No. 124. This section forms a circular route, continuing to follow the boundary stones and cross inscribed stones, and passing by a former bunker. The final point of the hike is once again at the Kreuzbergpass, right on the border between Trentino-South Tyrol and Veneto - an unforgettable conclusion to a route that is both scenically and historically fascinating.
