In the 3 Zinnen Dolomites region – encompassing the villages of Innichen, Toblach, Niederdorf, Sexten and Prags – churches and chapels stand as silent witnesses to a long history. They uniquely unite art, spirituality, and landscape, shaping the cultural heritage of the region.
Outstanding among them is the Collegiate Church of Innichen, a Romanesque masterpiece from the 13th century, considered one of the most important sacred buildings in the Alpine area. In Toblach, the Parish Church of St. John the Baptist impresses with its Baroque frescoes and striking tower, while the oldest Way of the Cross in Tyrol, with its chapels, invites visitors to quiet reflection.
Niederdorf is home to the late Baroque Parish Church of St. Stephen as well as the Gothic double chapel, whose frescoes are among the oldest works of art in the Puster Valley. In Sexten rises the neoclassical Parish Church of Saints Peter and Paul, surrounded by small chapels that tell of the craftsmanship and religiosity of the local people.
Finally, in Prags one finds simple churches and chapels whose charm lies less in monumental architecture than in their setting amidst a unique natural landscape.
