Pearl in the Valley Höhlensteintal

Lake Toblach amid the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage Site

Lake Toblach lies at an altitude of 1,259 metres in the Höhlensteintal valley, which connects Toblach with Cortina, and is located in the Fanes-Senes-Prags Nature Park.

With its diverse shoreline vegetation, it is an ideal resting and nesting place for many different water birds, including those that breed only sporadically and irregularly in South Tyrol.

It is an intact and relatively undisturbed habitat and is one of the few remaining wetlands in South Tyrol.

Experiences in winter and summer

A nature trail provides valuable information about the flora, fauna and geomorphology of the area at 11 stations. The viewing platform on the western shore offers a place to rest and a view of the flora and fauna.

In summer, Lake Dobbiaco offers cool refreshment for your feet. Boat trips and fishing are also available.

In winter, you can take a horse-drawn carriage to Lake Dobbiaco and enjoy the snow-covered winter landscape.
