Alpine tour: On the Carnic Mountain Ridge

The tour starts with a comfortable ride on the Helmjet Sexten cable car to the mountain station (2,041 m); from there, hike eastwards via the Hahnspielhütte (2,150 m) to the Sillianer Hütte (2,447 m) and continue over the Hochgrubengipfel (2,537 m), where a first descent into the valley is possible (Variant 1). Trail No. 403 continues over or along the Hornischeck (2,550 m) and the Hollbrucker Spitze (2,597 m) to the Hochgräntenjoch (2,439 m) with its war cemetery – another descent option is available here (Variant 2); the route then leads over the Demutspitze (2,592 m) and the two peaks of the Eisenreich (2,685 m) to the western Obstanser Sattel (2,453 m). If you are early enough, you can descend to the Obstanserseehütte (2,304 m), allowing at least 45 minutes for the round trip; however, the main route follows trail No. 160 right down to the Kniebergsattel (2,329 m) and continues on trail No. 146 to the managed Nemesalm (1,877 m), with the final descent to Moos via trail No. 13 passing the Froneben inn.    
Variant 1: After the Sillianerhütte, the tour can be shortened by descending via path No. 134 and then 133 to the Klammbachalm, returning to Moos via trail No. 13 (walking time: 4-5 hours).    
Variant 2: Continue past the Sillianerhütte to the small war cemetery, then descend via trail No. 14 and later trail No. 13 to the Klammbachalm, following the rest of Variant 1 (walking time: 5-6 hours).

Coming from the Pustertal valley, turn into the Sexten valley in Innichen. If arriving from the Kreuzberg pass, follow the main road until you reach Sexten. The start is located at the Haus der Berge, Dolomitenstraße 45A
