From Niederdorf/Villabassa via Toblach/Dobbiaco, Dürrensee lake to Cortina and back. Here the mountain panorama of the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage dominates the landscape.
The bike tour from Niederdorf to Cortina d'Ampezzo is one of the most beautiful cycling routes in the Dolomites and runs largely along the former Dolomitenbahn railway line. From Niederdorf, the bike path first follows the railroad line to Toblach. There, the signposted route branches off toward Cortina and follows a superbly maintained path, climbing steadily but gently through an impressive mountain landscape. Along the way, you’ll pass the picturesque Lake Toblach, the War Cemetery, the Drei-Zinnen-Blick viewpoint, and the idyllic Lake Dürrensee. After reaching the highest point of the tour at the Gemärk Pass at 1,530 meters, the scenic descent to Cortina d’Ampezzo begins. Along the way, tunnels and impressive bridges wind through the Dolomite landscape, offering magnificent views of the famous Tofane peaks and the well-known winter sports resort. During the summer season, Cortina Express operates buses with bike trailers for the return trip. Advance reservations are recommended.

Directions
From Niederdorf/Villabassa take the bike path in the direction of Lienz along the railroad to Toblach/Dobbiaco. To the right in the direction of Cortina (signposted), the cycling route from Toblach/Dobbiaco leads along the disused railroad line. The route leads in a southerly direction always slightly uphill past Toblach/Dobbiaco Lake, the war cemetery, 3 Zinnen Blick and Dürrensee lake, with Monte Cristallo to the highest point, the Gemärk Pass. This is at 1,530 m above sea level, from which begins the descent to Cortina, with a view of the famous Tofane. Descending, the bike path goes through a tunnel and the subsequent high bridge with a view of Cortina. From Cortina back to Toblach/Dobbiaco, in the summer season, buses with bike trailers run the Cortina Express bus company (advance reservation required).
