Winter hike: Helmrestaurant - Hahnspielhütte

Important notice: Proper footwear and suitable winter clothing are required for all winter hikes. Due to possible icy sections – even on groomed trails – the use of microspikes/crampons and trekking poles is recommended.

The hike starts at the mountain station of the Helmjet Sexten (2,041 m). From here, the trail initially passes behind the Helm restaurant in the direction of the Reinhold Messner Haus. You follow the well-marked winter hiking trail No. 4, which gently ascends through a short forested area. After a few minutes, the path crosses the ski slope as well as the small "Hawaii" drag lift. Caution and consideration for skiers are especially important here.

Then it’s only a few more meters until you reach the Hahnspiel Hut (2,150 m) after about 20 minutes of walking. The return route follows the same path back to the Helmjet mountain station.

Coming from the Puster Valley, turn into the Sexten Valley at Innichen. If coming from the Kreuzberg Pass, follow the main road to Sexten. Start at the "Haus der Berge", Dolomitenstraße 45A
