Winter hike (with buggy): Gasthof Panorama – Helmhanghütte

Important notice: Proper footwear and suitable winter clothing are required for all winter hikes. Due to possible icy sections – even on groomed trails – the use of microspikes/crampons and trekking poles is recommended.

The winter hike begins at the Restaurant Panorama, where there is a small car park just above it. From there, follow the wide path no. 13 towards Klammbachalm Hut. The first 500 metres or so are flat on an asphalt road. Then you cross a small bridge.

After the bridge, the trail continues slightly uphill. After about 400 metres, you will reach a fork in the trail, where you should follow the right-hand path towards the Helmhang hut. Shortly afterwards, you will cross a 50-metre stretch of forest. The landscape then opens up, offering a beautiful view of the Sexten sundial. A few minutes later, you will reach the Helmhang hut, which is located directly on the slope and invites you to stop for a bite to eat.

If you arrive by bus, you will need to walk a little further to the starting point:
From the bus stop, follow the paved road towards the parish church of Sexten, pass it and continue uphill along Kaiserstraße towards Mitterberg. After about 1.5 kilometers and 280 meters of elevation gain, you will reach the Panorama Inn. You should allow about an hour's walking time for this approach.
