The hike can be started at several points. One option begins at the "Haus der Berge" in Sexten. From there, you cross the main road and follow the side road in the direction of Hotel Waldheim. After about 500 meters along the Waldheimweg, you reach the Sexten Sports Center, where you join the actual winter hiking trail (No. 102). The trail leads between fences, partly running parallel to the cross-country ski track, in the direction of Moos. After approximately 500 meters, you reach a junction near a barn and continue straight ahead. The wide winter trail passes a horse stable, then crosses the ski track and the stream before turning right toward Bad Moos. At the large parking lot of the Rotwand cable car, keep far right along the stream until you reach the Mühlenhof. There, you cross the stream again and at the fork take trail No. 102 in the direction of Fischleintalboden. The trail starts with a slightly steeper ascent, then continues as a wide forest path for about 1.8 km gently through snow-covered larch meadows until you reach the Fischleintalboden parking lot. From here, walk along the parking area to the Fischleintalbodenhütte. Then keep right and pass the bus turnaround, where the road becomes a trail again and leads directly into the Fischleintal valley. Passing the "Bergsteiger" bistro, with views of the impressive peaks of Zwölferkofel and Einserkofel, follow the groomed trail for about 2 km until you reach the Talschlusshütte.
Alternatively, you can also start directly at the Rotwand cable car parking lot (approx. 1 hour to the Talschlusshütte) or from the Fischleintalboden parking lot (approx. 30 minutes to the destination).
Coming from the Puster Valley, turn into the Sexten Valley at Innichen. If you're coming from the Kreuzberg Pass, follow the main road to Sexten. The starting point is at the "Haus der Berge", Dolomitenstraße 45A. Alternatively, you can also start directly from the Rotwand cable car parking lot or from the Fischleintalboden parking lot.
