The 2025 Gustav Mahler Research Centre Innsbruck/Toblach annual Conference will focus on the topic of ‘Mahler and Humour’. The pivotal role of humour and irony in Mahler’s compositional practice and worldview is undisputed, yet some its facets still deserve more scholarly attention.
Keynotes:
Christine Lubkoll-Klotz (University of Erlangen-Nuremberg) – laughter theories from a literary perspective
Federico Celestini (University of Innsbruck) – Gustav Mahler’s Musical Humor: Between Constraint and Subversion
